I saw Batman Forever in theatres when I was only 8 and I remember loving that movie so much I watched it at home over and over again so I was, of course, very excited for this movie. When it came out when I was just 10 I remembered enjoying it only not as much as Batman Forever. I didn't see it again until a couple of years ago on TV and came to realize how TRULY terrible it is. It made me embarrassed to know I once liked this movie (and I am equally embarrassed when I see old photos that showcase the Batman and Robin movie poster hanging in all its glory in my 10 year old bedroom). I know I was only a child, but in retrospect I remember even thinking then how tacky, stupid, and campy these movies were (and not in a good way).
I am actually looking forward to First Class and Cowboys and Aliens, the former since I'm a huge X-Men fan and the latter because I couldn't miss out on a Jon Favreau-directed action flick. The other three disappoint me LARGELY. Why does Chris Evans transition from a disturbingly sickly waif to a 'roided out beast who's muscles have been inflated by an air pump? Why the need to Avatar-out Ryan Reynolds body with an glaringly obvious CGI suit? And for the love of all things Nordic WHY ON EARTH DOES THOR LOOK LIKE A SURFER BOY? Was it completely necessary for (least I forget) Academy-Award winner Natalie Portman to be his love interest? Not really, but what do I know, I'm not Kenneth Brannagh. This is what happens when conceited thespians are allowed to direct actions films...
I have high hopes for Captain America. Its always been one of my favorite comics and I really hope they dont ruin it. I would have said Green Lantern but they seem to be making ALL the wrong decisions about that movie, but as we saw by Batman and Robin, DC movies tend to happen that way.
I remember always watching the Batman movies with my dad when I was younger. I loved this movie. Now looking back on it looks really stupid. Thank God for Chris Nolan for saving this series. I'm actually looking forward to The Green Lantern and X- Men first Class. Eventhough the suit looks very fake I hope the movie will be very good. I love the X Men series and I really want to see this prequel to the story.

I've waited since 1997 to understand the purpose of Batman and Robin. When I left the theater, I could only gaze up to the heavens, hands outstreched and ask, "Why?!" I haven't seen it since, not on cable, not on network television, I've not watched one second of it since that fateful evening.
This one episode has given a measure of meaning to what was once a mystery to me, this movie was made so I could one day laugh myself silly at at your discussion of the most absurd movie I've ever paid money for.
Thank you!
When you guys said you were going to review 'Batman and Robin' I dusted of a VCR copy(yeah, they still have those) of it i had in my garage, invited a couple friends over, and popped it into my VCR player.
Having never seen the movie before and knowing very little of it's 'checkered' past, I went into this with a positive outlook.
If I had to choose 3 words to describe this movie they would be Terrible,Terrible, terrible.
This movie was so chalk full of predictable puns and ATTEMPTS at cheap laughs, that they didn't leave room for any worth-while lines or scenes. Their costumes reminded me of the Power Rangers.
When Batman pulled out the 'Batcard' and said that idiotic line, everyone in the room dropped their jaws in utter shock.
To say the least, this movie is garbage.
I thought you guys were spot-on with your review.
Thanks.
I got to say, the email you read kind of hurt my soul. You guys didn't like Twilight because it's a terrible story. It is not because your Y chromosome somehow invalidates your opinion. There are plenty of women who think the series is utter garbage as well, such as myself. It was really sad too to hear that there are women out there who find kickass proactive heroines so out of their realm of experience that they can't identify with them.
As far as summer movies are concerned... Thor, Captain America, and Harry Potter 7 are looking pretty damn awesome. I haven't discounted Green Lantern yet. I always liked Ryan Reynolds. He seems to honestly be 'one of us'. He doesn't seem very 'Hal Jordan-ish' but there's been like 4 Earth sector green lanterns at this point, so another guy as our sector's green lantern doesn't bother me. My favorite lantern is Guy anyways.
People think that kids are stupid enough to like every super hero movie, ever. well I'm 12 and this is one of my least faveourite films ever. Looks like kids do have brains.
That girl who sent that e-mail about Twilight does not understand the criticisms against Twilight at all. Let it be made clear, Twilight is horrible and has legit problems and bad messages, and those transferred into the movies as well.
It's not because the movies left out an important detail that put everything out of context, and whatever it did leave out isn't that great to be a big loss. The books are horrible in their own right too. It is SO a badly written teen romance.
And Bella isn't a bad character because she's not a kung fu chick or whatever she called it, it's because her actions show her to be a selfish, stupid person who's emotionally clingy but yet is treated as a wonderful person by the story. If you think that's what people mean by "strong female character", it just shows how you really don't know better. And don't say it's just a matter of men being unfair to this "girly" book, it's badness is female orientated and not aimed at men but it's still bad, it's insulting to say all women are supposed to fall for its bs. It's the self-indulgent fantasies of an idiot who's incapable of looking past her need for cushy wish-fulfillment to tell a good story, and the people who enjoy it do so at that same level.
