I would say "Die Hard", "The Dark Knight", "Shaun of the Dead", "Edward Scissorhands" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. I would even watch "Die Hard" and "Shaun of the Dead" with all the awful dubbing for language.

I just listened to the most recent episode and don’t care for your flippant attitude about adultery, especially towards actors. Having been the victim of this myself, it’s a very unfortunate, fucking abhorrent thing to go through, especially with the media all over it like flies on shit. I recall Martin once saying that he respected the sanctity of marriage but Joel, you disappoint me. I’m pointing a shameful finger at you, my boy. But, it all worked out, my ex-wife is now practically unemployable and has had many plastic surgeries and the man she jilted me for is now a fat has-been, whereas, I have retained my manly figure and have a steady stream of movies.

As for the question of who this generation’s Dennis Quaid is, I have an answer. My son and fellow actor, Jack Quaid. No man who hasn’t sprung from my loins is fit to carry the mantle.

Yours truly, Dennis Quaid

Raising Arizona has a powerful tractor beam on me, but it never gets old. I watched it on one of those higher-tier movie channels about 14 times over a summer in high school until my mom got tired enough of it to tell me to stop.

I also find a bit of comfort in finding any of the Lord of the Rings movies on a weekend and just having it on in the background, but I don't have to watch them til the end.

Any of the Naked Gun movies will stop me from roaming no matter what. And I own all 3.5 (have the whole Police Squad series on DVD too) which is crazy.

Regarding your choices, I can agree with Back to the Future, but not Predator or Alien Resurrection (though I too love that movie...City of Lost Children and Alien's bastard offspring with crappy CG, what's not to love?). Too much violence and naughty language have to be edited out and that drives me NUTS.

The Naked Gun (and Back to the Future) movies run nearly uncut on TV so I'll watch them.

And if Comedy Central runs South Park: Bigger, Longer and UnCut at 2am uncut, I'm FORCED to watch it because I can't believe they're airing that uncut on basic cable! ER (I think) showed Rebecca DeMornay's dark, shadowy boob profile and everybody lost their mind...yet Comedy Central regularly airs SP uncut.

For some reason, I have to watch the Money Train whenever it comes on the air. It is not the best buddy cop movie in the world, but it does have its moments.

For me it's Kickboxer. Yeah it's a bad 80's movie, but it gies me that feeling of nostalgia where I could just listen to the soundtrack alone (love that flut). Watching Van Damme at his peak is also a plus and I'm a sucker for his slow mo jumping round house split kick to his opponents faces. I always wondered....that move looks cool but I'm sure Van Damme is exerting a lot of energy to deliver what's probably a very weak kick, but hey, it was the 80's right? Later guys, I have to go kick down a palm tree.

That is so a FAKE Dennis Quaid.Haha! Everyone knows by now mister Quaid was never a victim of cheating, he WAS and IS one of the biggest cheaters himself. Just ask his previous and his current wife!!

Definitely Beastmaster. First, because of its inexplicably high price tag (new copies start at $33). Second, because of its sheer awesomeness. The loin cloths, the zombie guys with spiked gloves, the people-eating humanoid monsters that worship birds(?), and Rip Torn with an unnecessary nose prosthetic. Awesomeness. There's never been a better era for fantasy action than the 80s.

Fucking nailed it when i saw Mr&Mrs i though the same thing it was a great 45 min movie and the rest i was just wondering why this is going on,

also like you said, if say Mr.Smith would have sacrifice himself then Mrs.Smith would have reason to go on a revenge driven warpath and the movie would have had a reason to keep going, instead of going though action scenes to the predicable end

for a movie that suck me in, The Fifth Element puts me in a hypnotic state

In my case, it's Happy Gilmore... I hate Adam Sandler's movies, but Happy Gilmore is hysterically funny. How could you not love Sandler fighting Bob Barker on a golf course, and all the other hilarious antics. "The price is wrong, bitch!"

It's been a while since I have seen this movie on TV, but there was a time were every time The Fifth Element was on, I would end up watching the whole thing. I don't know why!!! I don't even like this movie that much but for whatever reason it would hold my attention, and before I know it, the credits are rolling and I have to wonder where the hell 2 hours of my life went.

'The Fifth Element'; my all-time favourite movie! Whenever it's on I'm glued to the screen, despite knowing all the dialogue off by heart and owning it in several media formats. I'll even watch the whole thing then flick over to the +1 channel and watch the ending again.

I know you said everyone would say reign of fire, and i will become a zombie for that movie, but i also cant seem to change the channel when the punisher is on. Oddly I didnt like that movie without commercials.

Batman Forever, or Krull. I saw Goonies the other day on TV and there was something off.. like they were talking .5 seconds faster or somehtig. Anybody?

Clue, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, too bad neither are on TV that often. If I ever turn on a tv channel and Porn is on, that's also considered a must watch! It won't let me link my wordpress acct, (I'm probably doing it wrong) but instantviewreview.wordpress.com is our movie blog, and if you guys have suggestions/comments hit me up there. Fantastic job.

I was about to answer XXX but after thinking about it any Vin Diesel movie. Go figure why but I like the dude attitude and get mesmerise by is flat performance anytime. I even got caught on Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift dubbed in french because he show up for 1 min.
I know I'm patetic.

Thank God for this podcast. When Reign of Fire is on, everything else is off. I also mysteriously scoot closer to the TV without realizing it. I sort of "become" the movie as it were.

Other movies I have to watch when they're on are Stephen King's "It" and The Thing. Tim Curry as Pennywise the clown!!?? Kurt Russell as drunk MacReady!!?? Sorry honey, but those clothes aren't going to be folded anytime soon.

Ocean's 11, 12, or 13.
Those movies are just friggin' cool.

I agree, The Dark Knight too. I own it on DVD, but I once skipped a dentist appointment to finish watching it on HBO in the middle of the day. I couldn't help it...

Hmmm this is a tough so i will go with two. one that is the popular choice and one that i love and everyone hates. So for me anytime i see Shawshank Redemption or Do The Right Thing is on i will stop whatever i am doing and watch it. Its funny cause i am watching Shawshank on AMC right now...LOL

The one i like that some people hate is Face Off by John Woo and The Rock by Michael Bay. Both are very very cool to me. i love those two films. i watched Face Off last nite and The Rock after that... LOL

I can't stand Angelina Jolie. And Brad Pitt is a "maybe."
Pretty much anything with HER in it, I ignore.

I'm always captivated by random unrecognized bits of cinema. I don't think that really counts though, because I generally blurt the title as soon as I parse the inflow (5-15 seconds does it for most contemporary fare). This means I watch a lot of Godzilla because, until the ultimate battle scene, they all look/sound alike.

A better answer to your question would be films I watch even after I know what they are - even in korean - all the way to the end. "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" is up there because it had "everyone" in it. "Young Frankenstein" is the funniest, and... Well, I have to watch "Broken Arrow." That one is the guilty secret, fatal attraction event. The film is Grade Z debris but...

If it's an emergency and I'm not picking up my phone, it's probably because "The Matrix Reloaded" is on.

Nic Cage's Agent said...

It's not on TV much anymore, but if it were to be I would be powerless before the might of 'Demolition Man'. It inspires such joy joy feelings I can't help it. This movie has such a tractor beam on me that three years ago on a flight from Kuwait to Australia (14 hours) I watched it twice on the in-flight entertainment system. I would have watched it a third time but the in flight drinks caught up with me.

There are several movies I can't pass by, most already mentioned like The Dark Knight. But a couple I couldn't pass up if I were on fire, one of the best sequels ever made Aliens, which is an understandable, but the less obvious choice of Aliens vs. Predator. Perhaps it's Lance Henriksen's voice.
